Abstract

A removable cartridge assembly (16) for a waterless urinal (10). The cartridge assembly (16) comprises a cup (42) and a cap (46). The cup (42) is adapted to receive a scent block (44) therein. The cap (46) is adapted to releasably engage the cup (44). When the cap (46) is engaged with the cup (42), the scent block (44) is retained in the cup (42) and, when the cap (46) is disengaged from the cup (42), the scent block (44) is removable from within the cup (42), and thus from the cartridge assembly (16).

Background of the Invention [0002] Waterless urinals that utilise a one-way valve are known. The valve automatically opens in the presence of urine, to allow the urine to flow therethrough to sewerage, and then automatically closes to prevent the passage of any sewerage odour to the room where the waterless urinal is installed. It is also known to mount the valves in a removable cartridge assembly that can be fitted to a purpose built urinal or retro-fitted to an existing flushing urinal, after theflushing water supply to the latter is disabled. It is also known for the cartridge to contain a scent or deodorant block to reduce the negative impact of any odours that may become associated with the cartridge due to having urine pass therethrough.Background of the Invention Waterless urinals that are known as one-way valve are known. The valve automatically opens in the urine to the flow of water, and so does the waterless urinal is installed. It is also known to be used in the urine or in the urine, as well as in the body. Detailed description of the preferred embodiment [0019] Referring firstly to Fig. 1, there is shown a first embodiment of a waterless urinal 10 according to the invention. The urinal 19 has an interior bowl surface 12 with an outlet opening 14. Fig. 1 also shows a first embodiment of a removable cartridge assembly 16 according to the invention. The cartridge assembly 16 is mounted within the opening 14 and connected to mains sewerage by pipes 18.Detailed Description of the Preferred Referring firstly to Fig. 1, there is a first of a waterless urinal 10 according to the invention. The urinal 19 has an interior bowl surface 12 with an outlet opening 14. FIG. 1 also shows a removable cartridge assembly 16 according to the invention. Claims 1. A removable cartridge assembly (16) for a waterless urinal, the cartridge assembly (16) comprising: a body (20); a cup (42) adapted to receive a scent block (44) therein; and a cap (46) adapted to releasably engage the cup, wherein, when the cap (46) is engaged with the cup (42), the scent block (44) is retained in the cup (42) and, when the cap (46) is disengaged from the cup (42), the scent block (44) is removable from within the cup (42), and thus from the cartridge assembly (16), the removable cartridge assembly (16) being characterized by the body (20) being adapted for sealing connection to an opening in the waterless urinal; and the cap (46) being located spaced apart from the body (20) by a gap (52) through which urine can enter the body. 2. The assembly as claimed in claim 1, wherein the cup (42) has at least one tab (48) adapted to releasably engage at least one corresponding opening (50) in the cap. 3. The assembly as claimed in claim 2, where in the body (20) has an external thread (22) on one end for engaging a retaining nut (28). 4. The assembly as claimed in claim 3, wherein the other end of the body has a distally diverging taper (24) adapted to receive the cup (42) therein. 5. The assembly as claimed in claims 2, 3 or 4, wherein the interior of the body has a shoulder (36) adapted to engage with corresponding recess formed in a flexible one way valve (30). 6. The assembly as claimed in claim 5, where in the cup (42) is releasably connected to, and supported within the taper (24) by, the valve (30). 7. A waterless urinal comprising: a urinal bowl (10) having an interior surface (12) with an outlet opening (14) therein; and a removable cartridge assembly (16) as clamed in any one of the preceding claims, adapted to mount within the opening (14), wherein the cartridge assembly is mounted with the cap (46) substantially parallel to, and slightly proud of, the bowl surface (12) adjacent to the outlet opening (14). 8. The urinal as claimed in claim 7, wherein the cap (46) is positioned above the adjacent bowl surface (12) with a gap (52). 9. The assembly as claimed in claim 8, wherein the cap (46) is positioned above the adjacent bowl surface (12) by approximately a 9mm gap (52). 10. The assembly as claimed in any one of claims 7, 8 or 9, wherein the cap (46) is slightly convex into the interior of the urinal bowl (10). 11. The assembly as claimed in any one of claims 8 to 10, wherein the removable cartridge assembly (16) has a scent block holder (42) therein. 12. The assembly as claimed in claim 11, wherein the cap (46) is releasably connected to the scent block holder (42).Claims 1. A removable cartridge assembly (16) comprising a body (20); the cup (42) adapted to receive a scent block (44) therein; and the cap (46) adapted to releasably engage the cup, when the cap (46) is engaged with the cup (42), the scent block (44) is retained in the cup (42) and, when the cap ( 46) is disengaged from the cup (42), the scent block (44) is removable from within the cup (42), and is from the cartridge assembly (16) being tagged by the body ( 20) being adapted for sealing in the waterless urinal; and the cap (46) being located spaced apart from the body (20) by a gap (52) through which urine can enter the body. 2. The assembly as claimed in claim 1, where the cup (42) has been one of the least (50) in the cap. 3. The assembly as claimed in claim 2, where the external thread (22) is one end for engaging a retaining nut (28). 4. The assembly as claimed in claim 3, diverging taper (24) adapted to receive the cup (42) therein. 5. The assembly as claimed in claims 2, 3 or 4, (30). 6. Patentansprüche 1. Herausnehmbare Kartuschenbaugruppe (16) für ein wasserloses Urinal, wobei die Kartuschenbaugruppe (16) Folgendes umfasst: einen Korpus (20), einen Becher (42), der dafür eingerichtet ist, einen Duftblock (44) in demselben aufzunehmen, und eine Kappe (46), die dafür eingerichtet ist, den Becher lösbar in Eingriff zu nehmen, wobei, wenndie Kappe(46) mit dem Becher(42) in Eingriff gebracht ist, der Duftblock (44) in dem Becher (42) zurückgehalten wird, und wenn die Kappe (46) von dem Becher (42) ausgerückt ist, der Duftblock (44) aus dem Inneren des Bechers (42) und folglich aus der Kartuschenbaugruppe (16) herausgenommen werden kann, wobei die herausnehmbare Kartuschenbaugruppe (16) dadurch gekennzeichnet ist, dass der Korpus (20) für eine abdichtende Verbindung mit einer Öffnung in dem wasserlosen Urinal eingerichtet ist und die Kappe (46) durch einen Spalt (52), durch den Urin in den Korpus eintreten kann, mit Abstand entfernt von dem Korpus (20) angeordnet ist. 2. Baugruppe nach Anspruch 1, wobei der Becher (42) wenigstens eine Lasche (48) hat, die dafür eingerichtet ist, wenigstens eine entsprechende Öffnung (50) in der Kappe lösbar in Eingriff zu nehmen. 3. Baugruppe nach Anspruch 2, wobei der Korpus (20) an einem Ende ein Außengewinde (22) hat, um eine Haltemutter (28) in Eingriff zu nehmen. 4. Baugruppe nach Anspruch 3, wobei das andere Ende des Korpus einen in distaler Richtung auseinandergehenden Konus (24) hat, der dafür eingerichtet ist, den Becher (42) in demselben aufzunehmen. 5. Baugruppe nach Anspruch 2, 3 oder 4, wobei das Innere des Korpus einen Absatz (36) hat, der dafür eingerichtet ist, mit einer entsprechenden Aussparung ineinanderzugreifen, die in einem flexiblen Einwegventil (30) geformt ist. 6. Baugruppe nach Anspruch 5, wobei der Becher (42) mit dem Ventil (30) lösbar verbunden ist und innerhalb des Konus (24) durch das Ventil (30) getragen wird. 7. Wasserloses Urinal, das Folgendes umfasst: eine Urinalschale (10), die eine Innenfläche (12) mit einer Auslassöffnung (14) in derselben hat, und eine herausnehmbare Kartuschenbaugruppe (16) nach einem der vorhergehenden Ansprüche, die dafür eingerichtet ist, innerhalb der Öffnung (14) angebracht zu werden, wobei die Kartuschenbaugruppe mit der Kappe (46) im Wesentlichen parallel zu der Schalenfläche (12) und geringfügig aus derselben hervorstehend angrenzend an die Auslassöffnung (14) angebracht ist. 8. Urinal nach Anspruch 7, wobei die Kappe (46) mit einem Spalt (52) oberhalb der angrenzenden Schalenfläche (12) angeordnet ist. 9. Baugruppe nach Anspruch 8, wobei die Kappe (46) um einen Spalt (52) von etwa 9 mm oberhalb der angrenzenden Schalenfläche (12) angeordnet ist. 10. Baugruppe nach einem der Ansprüche 7, 8 oder 9, wobei die Kappe (46) in das Innere der Urinalschale (10) hinein geringfügig konvex ist. 11. Baugruppe nach einem der Ansprüche 8 bis 10, wobei die herausnehmbare Kartuschenbaugruppe (16) einen Duftblockhalter (42) in derselben hat. 12.
