Abstract

Description

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to multi-box packaging, particularly for use in transporting bottles. The packaging can be easily disassembled into individual packages or boxes. The packages include languages that allow easy opening. It also relates to a method of folding a folding sheet required to form a package and to folding a folding sheet into a package.

Most packages nowadays used in the transportation industry are packed in six bottles in a paper wrapper or box. Two such boxes are placed in each shipping package. The use of so many packages and boxes increases the cost of shipping. Therefore, it would be desirable to use a single shipping package containing twelve bottles, which can be easily disassembled into two six-bottle containers.

Accordingly, it is an object of the present invention to provide multi-box packaging in which the size of each box may vary. Many types of multi-box packaging are known in the art.

The present invention relates to a package comprising at least two separable boxes. The packaging according to the invention is preferably formed of a single continuous folding sheet, and the two separable boxes have a common top sheet with a weakened line by which the boxes can be separated. Each of the two boxes includes an outer side panel, a bottom panel, an inner side panel, and an adhesive drive protruding from the inner side panel. Each of the adhesive drives is glued to the corresponding portion of the top sheet. The boxes include front and rear flaps. Preferably, the front opening drives include a lifting tab.

By using a package that is separable into two boxes, less tape is used than when individual boxes are placed in a larger shipping package as described above, thus saving tape and improving the printing of the graphics on the package. As used herein, the term "top" refers to the side of the package 10 to which the first and second adhesive drives 30, 40 described below are glued.
