BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to a novel composition for use in the formulation of high strength waterproofing and water repellent surfaces having a consistency similar to a dense mortar, but having different properties, comprising a polyvinyl acetate aqueous dispersion, a polyester resin, and optionally other fillers and / or excipients, depending on the intended use.

A hydraulic mortar is described in the literature in which an additive such as a resin dispersion is added to the mixing water to increase waterproofing and chemical resistance. Further, resin based binders and mortars are mentioned, but the composition of the latter differs significantly from the compositions of the present invention.

C.A. Publication No. 60,7026 discloses novel coating systems comprising copolymers of low-carbon polystyrene polysacids and / or polyols with alkyd resins or vinyl acetate.

Hungarian Patent No. 178,225 relates to kits containing a polyvinyl acetate based adhesive based on polyurethane resin, nitrocellulose resin, solvents, plasticizers and, if desired, fillers, preferably quartz flour, calcium carbonate, asbestos flour.

Hungarian Patent Application No. 180,840 discloses adhesive compositions comprising butyl acrylate-styrene copolymer, an oil-modified alkyd resin, an inorganic filler such as alumina and / or aluminum silicate, and optionally known additives, in addition to vinyl acetate homopolymer.

In practice, materials currently used, especially in the construction industry, for similar purposes do not at the same time guarantee durability, sufficient waterproofing and water repellency, high adhesion to the applied surface and the adhesion of the product to any substrate after drying.

It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a composition for the use of which the aforementioned disadvantages can be overcome together.

As a filler according to the invention

10-60% by weight of calcium carbonate as binder

20-50% by weight of an aqueous dispersion based on polyvinyl acetate resin in which the amount of polyvinyl acetate is

30-55% by weight, and

20-50% by weight of a polyester resin-based white spirit suspension in which the polyester resin produced by polycondensation of aromatic polycarboxylic acids and aliphatic polyalcohols contains 10-30% by weight of titanium dioxide and optionally other excipients, preferably additional fillers and / or colorants.

The calcium carbonate used as filler may be of industrial or pharmacy grade depending on the nature of the formulation.

Other excipients may be included, but these will be selected according to the requirements of the field of application. For example, quartz sand from Sóskút, glass sand, whitewash, limestone grit, coarse grit to create rough surfaces, linseed oil, synthetic diluents can be used to achieve the desired consistency, lithopone bleaching.

For artistic purposes, such as three-dimensional tablet printing, a composition which does not contain a filler other than calcium carbonate, such as the composition of Example 4, is preferably used.

Preferably, the colorant is an oil paint. For artistic applications, the coloring is preferably done with oil paint and the amount of paint used, which is usually 1-2% by weight of the composition, depends only on the desired hue and does not change the properties of the composition. For industrial use, all commercially available and commonly used oil paints, Wallkyd tinting pastes, etc. are used for tinting purposes. can be applied in an amount depending on the desired color effect.

The composition is characterized in that its binder combines the favorable properties of the resins produced by polycondensation of both vinyl acetate polymers and aromatic polycarboxylic acids and aliphatic polyalcohols, while the heterogeneous particle size, the different particle shape and the physico-chemical properties of the filler to a solidified system.

The preparation in question is well-stored, stored at -5 to ⁶ ° C without damage, with no filler, or only difficult to settle;

The formulations in question are thus characterized by a very wide range of applications. Thus, without being exhaustive, it can be used for waterproofing of paintings, panels, murals; for three-dimensional imaging and for making sculptures and reliefs (since they can be carved after drying in smaller blocks, they can be easily machined and polished); conservation of monuments such as plaster sculptures and exterior and interior facade reliefs; as a waterproof floor covering for wet rooms and as antifreeze and waterproof coatings for swimming pools; for durable, aesthetic coating of wood surfaces (indoor & outdoor) and for painting road markings.

Our investigations were carried out with formulations using a commercially available formulation as Geralit as a binder, a) a polyvinyl acetate-based aqueous dispersion, and b) a commercially available formulation known as Wallkyd as a polyester resin-based white spirit suspension.

Geralit is a dense liquid binder made by Gemardt Werke, containing 42% by volume of vinyl acetate, mainly used for foundation in fine arts (painting). It contributes to the high strength of the composition according to the invention, to the formation of excellent adhesive properties between the particles and between the surfaces to be coated.

Wallkyd wall paint produced by the Tisza Chemical Plant is a titanium oxide dispersion of a solution of unsaturated fatty acids in white spirit in polyester resin modified with vegetable oil. The resin has an air-drying, air-oxidizing property, a polycondensation degree higher than the general one and an oil length less than 65%. The wall paint in question is, as a solvent, 15 to 35% by weight of white spirit, more than 100% by weight of titanium dioxide pigment and more than 200% by weight of mineral fillers (alkaline earth metal carbonate and / or silicate) and additives and thixotropizing, anti-skinning, antifungal and drying agents). The pigment and fillers are dispersed in the resin solution such that the dye has a particle size of less than 100 µm. Wallkyd ensures rapid drying of the composition of the invention, proper dispersion of the individual components together with Geralit, and, depending on the application technology, also serves to dilute the composition.
