Abstract

An ornamental chain consists of a core made of at least two parallel or twisted strings (11, 12, 13) and at least one metal wire (10) passing around said core, essentially punctiform contact surfaces (K) being formed between each string (11, 12, 13) and the metal wire (10). As a result, a very "free" fastening of the peripheral metal wire (10) is achieved by the core, and the bending behaviour of the peripheral metal wire (10) is very even due to the multi-point fastening by the continuous strings (11, 12, 13). The strings are preferably formed from metal or a metal alloy so that a high mechanical stability of the core can also be achieved.
