Description

Infant seat comprising an articulated handle
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a device for hinging a handle to an infant seat, crib or the like.
Background
For some time, infant seats and the like have included a hinge of a rigid handle, in the shape of an inverted U, fitted to the sides of the seat, so that the handle can be locked in different positions within its rotation range by means of the above-mentioned hinge, which has means for locking and unlocking the different positions of the handle.
Some of these devices include: a locking element fitted to be slidably movable between two coaxial cavities, one of which corresponds to the side of the infant seat and the other to the lower end of the handle; a push-button acting on said locking element and fitted to compress a spring fitted to return said locking element to a rest position when the pressure applied to said push-button is stopped; for example, in the case of an apparatus which is an object of the invention of utility model ES-1053703U (application No. 200300028).
Other devices actuate the locking element through a cord by means of a single control placed on the upper part of the handle, said locking element being constituted by a movable piece adapted to fit into different recesses provided in the bush, for example in the case of the infant seat with handle, which is the object of the invention of patent US-5,522,639.
Disclosure of Invention
The object of the present invention is a device arranged for hinging a handle to an infant seat, crib or the like, which is simple and effective to assemble and which is assembled to be easily actuatable by means of a rope.
The device is characterized in that it comprises two parts, a first part housing a locking element formed by a tiltable member, and a second part having means for said locking element to perform its locking action, said means being constituted by a plurality of teeth formed on the periphery of a central hub.
The device is further characterized in that said locking element is formed by an element having an angled end and being fitted to be inclined in a wider range of angled cavities provided in said first part of said device, said locking element having a U-shaped protrusion fitted to be selectively engaged with one of said plurality of teeth.
Said first part of the device has a transverse pin by means of which it is fitted to rotate on said second part, and said locking element is connected to said pin by means of a spring which pulls the locking element towards its active position.
These and other characteristic features will be best understood from the following detailed description, which is to be understood more easily by means of the accompanying drawings illustrating practical embodiments, which are cited purely by way of example and do not limit the scope of the invention.
Drawings
In the drawings:
figure 1 shows a device which is the object of the present invention, the two parts forming the device being shown in a separated arrangement;
fig. 2 shows the operation of the locking element in a front view; and
fig. 3 and 4 show diagrammatically in front view the active position and the inactive position, respectively, of the locking element.
Detailed Description
According to the figures, the device shown for hinging the handle to the baby seat, crib or the like comprises two parts 1 and 2, a first of which is integral with the lower end of the handle 3 (solid) and a second of which is integral with the baby seat 4 or the like.
The first part 1 houses a locking element 5 formed by a tiltable member having an angled end 6 and fitted to tilt in a cavity 7 provided in said first part 1 and having an angled end region 8 which is wider than the end 6 of said tiltable member.
In the second part 2 of the device there are provided means for the locking element 5 to exert its locking action, said means being formed by a plurality of teeth 9 formed on the outer periphery of a central hub 10.
The element 5 has a U-shaped lateral projection 5' fitted to selectively engage one of the plurality of teeth 9.
The first part 1 has a transverse pin 11 by means of which it is fitted to rotate on the fixed second part 2, which for this purpose has a central cavity 12 into which the pin 11 is fitted to rotate.
The locking element 5 is stabilized in its working position (fig. 3) by being pulled by a helical spring 13, which helical spring 13 is fixed at one end to said element and at the other end to the pin 11.
To change the position of the handle, the locking element 5 is actuated (arrow F) by means of a cord 14 which is fixed at its lower end 15 to said locking element 5 (fig. 4) and extends through the interior of the handle, so that the handle is in a free-turning position, and said spring returns the locking element 5 to its working position once the handle is in the new position and when the action on the cord 14 ceases.
The device comprises a complementary part 16 connected to the first portion 1 for removably fitting a seat or the like to a corresponding baby carriage.
