Abstract

The invention relates to steel alloys comprising a maximum of 1 wt. % of silicon, a maximum of 2 wt. % of manganese, at least 17 wt. % and less than 19 wt. % of chromium, more than 2.5 wt. % and a maximum of 3,00 wt. % of molybdenum, between 12.5 and 15 wt. % of nickel, between 0.11 and 0.25 wt. % of nitrogen, between 0.5 and 1.5 wt. % of copper, a maximum of 0.01 wt. % of titanium, a maximum of 0.01 wt. % of aluminium, a maximum of 0.05 wt. % of niobium, the remainder consisting essentially of iron. Said steel alloys have comparable mechanical and chemical properties and a better buffability in relation to the standard watch-and-clock-making steel Nr. 1.4435. They are used to produce watch and clock components such as housings, backs and watchstraps.
