του 4-δεϋδρο, 5-δεϋδρο ή 6-υδροξυ αραγώγου της, ένθα R είνε Η ή CH3 και Χ είνε -CR(OH) ή C(OM) αλκύλιον, ήτις μέθοδος περιλαμβάνει αναγωγήν ενώσεως του τύπου:

εις τον οποίον Α=-CH2COOM ή -CH-COM, R'= υδρογόνον, υδροξύ ή οξο-ομάς και Μ - Η, ΝΗ4, ή μέταλλον των ακυλίων ή των αλκαλικών γαιών υπό μορφήν κατιόντος, δια χρησιμοποιήσεως μεταλλικού τινος αντιδραστηρίου καταλλήλου δια την αναγωγήν φορμυλο- προς καρβινομάδα.
