Abstract
The present invention relates to a device for the drying and thermochemical decomposition of materials having a special slurry form and consisting of a mixture of organic and inorganic solid materials (and preferably in a fine particle state) and water and designated as hydrated carbonaceous condensates (HCC). The HCCs are transferred to a drying chamber (1) where they are heated as they pass through a suitable device, hereinafter designated as warm zone (23), which consists of solid pieces (3). A basic property of the warm zone is that the HCC, as they move downwards, can pass through the voids (33) between the solid pieces (3), and are continuously dehydrated as they absorb thermal load from the surfaces of the solid pieces with which they come in contact. When flowing out of the warm zone, the HCCs are exposed to a current of burning gases, thus their carbonaceous components are evaporated.
