Abstract
An interpolation system is proposed which improves the representation accuracy of a signal changing slowly or oversampled, so that the same value occurs more than 2 successive times. For any two successive different input signal values, their mean value is calculated, which replaces the half of the occurrences of the first value. The calculation of the mean value is implemented only by a summer of the successive values, without division, since at the output the initial values are employed as doubled (shifting to the left). The number of successive occurrences of the same value is calculated by a counter. The pairs (value, number of occurrences thereof) are stored in queues which compensate the variable generation rate of the pairs. Instead of the values, in the pairs the difference from the previous value with fewer represantation digits may be stored. A plurality of devices may be connected in series or the same value may be reused for better approximation of the initial signal, whereas the device executes signal compression and responds to real-time requirements.
