Abstract

Tool, method and procedure for the development of interactive information technology applications with the use of virtual reality. The field of application of the invention is Information Technology applications that support interactivity with the user. The method is implemented by the development of a software library that permits the development of interactive applications with virtual worlds. This library supports immediate connection with virtual reality devices and presentation of the virtual environment from different optical angles. It is based on a special tree structure for the representation via which it is possible to process all types of three-dimensional scenes. For the support of feel-touch feedback, the library implements a special algorithm for the rapid detection of collisions between the edges of the fingers of the hand of the user in the virtual environment and the objects in the virtual space. The principal uses of the invention are the development of demonstrationapplications that require interaction with the user. Indicatively, the following are mentioned: virtual assembly for industrial design, three-dimensional interactive presentation of products and training of blind people with the use of virtual reality.
