Η εφεύρεση αφορά εις μία αυτόνομη συσκευή ελέγχουη οποία επιτρέπει την συλλογή, αποθήκευση και μετάδοση δεδομένων σε εξωτερική μονάδα π.χ. ηλεκτρονικό υπολογιστή, με τρόπο ασύρματο.Η συσκευή επινοήθηκε για τον εξ αποστάσεως έλεγχο έργων τέχνης (ή και άλλων αντικειμένων) τα οποία φυλλάσονται εντός προστατευτικού περιβάλλοντος και σφραγισμένα για μεγάλα χρονικά διαστήματα.Μια επιπλέον χρησιμότητατης συσκευής αφορά εις τον έλεγχο και εποπτεία μνημείων στα οποία η πρόσβαση είναι δύσκολη.Επιλύει τοπρόβλημα λήψης, μετάδοσης και καταγραφής δεδομένωνμειώνοντας την συχνότητα αποσφράγισης, η οποίαεγκυμονεί κινδύνους φθοράς απο,π.χ. τις διακυμάνσεις στα επίπεδα της θερμοκρασίας και της υγρασίας του περιβάλλοντος στο οποίο φυλάσσεται το αντικείμενο.Επιπλέον προσφέρει την δυνατότητα του απευθείας ελέγχου σε πραγματικό χρόνο (real time) των συνθηκώνπου επικρατούν στο εσωτερικό του προστατευτικού περιβάλλοντος.
