Abstract

he system consists of a pump (1) which brings the hydraulic liquid under pressure through a suitable line to the common supply line (7), wherefrom, controlled by a computer, it is passed through one way electromagnetic valves (9) and flow adjusters(11), to a cylinder (13), the piston (14) of which, pressed, pushes the stem of the valve (16) of the engine and opens it. The closure of the valve (16) is effected by its return spring, once the one-way electromagnetic valve (10) is activated, in which case the liquid is transported via a tube (18) to a common return line (20). From there it is directed to the inlet of the pump (1), thus creating a closed circuit. In this manner, by controlling the supply of liquid to each cylinder (13) and the duration of its pressure onto the piston (14), one can adjust the size and the duration of the opening of each valve (16), achieving infinite timing variations.
