Abstract
The oscillating grid of chords consists of parallel steel chords which are fixed on one end with a combination of electro-welding and polyurethane injection. The desired cut-off size determines the distance between the chords. Two adjacent chords have a different length so as to achieve a different equation and oscillation range. In this manner, blocking of the aperture between the chords is avoided. The oscillating grid of chords achieves a very high degree of sieving (98-99 %) and very high capacity (16 tones per sq. meter per hour). Losses are relatively high and concern sizes near the cut-off size. The increased losses stem from the design of the oscillating grid. The oscillating grid of chords is not blocked if the critical level of moisture content of 15 % is not exceeded; under this level the system is self-cleaned.The oscillating grid of chords is suitable for mining materials, quarrying materials, coke etc. and in general all materials that are difficult to sieve (colloid materials and high moisture contents). The diameter of the chords is determined by the size distribution of the feed and the distance of the chords is determined by the desired cut-off size.
