Abstract
The invention describes an acoustic signalling system for the purpose of regulating road traffic for the safe crossing of pedestrian crossings by the blind. It has the facility to be used not only on simple crossings but also at junction crossings without causing noise pollution or interfering in the method of operation of the apparatus to control the traffic. The system completes a full operating cycle in five stages, each of which lasts for a period of time. When the blind person nears the signal mast, he finds a special button with special dimensions and shape and at a height set for blind persons; on the lower part there are symbols in relief in order to establish the overall form of the junction. On the arrival of the blind person at the crossing and activation of the button, the system sounds. When the first red light appears, then at the same time as the acoustic signal, through a remote control system, the sounding signal mast sends a command to the signal mast opposite to begin operating. The intensity of the opposite signal will have a higher level due to the distance. In the event of an obstacle between the two signal masts on the same crossing so that the signal mast opposite does not receive the signal sent to it by remote control, the system is deactivated and awaits a new call.
