999,473. Valve sawtooth circuits. COMMUNICATIONS PATENTS Ltd. Oct. 11, 1961 [July 13, 1960], No. 24476/60. Heading H3P. In television apparatus for operation on more than one line frequency, transient oscillation is minimized by an additional winding or windings L3, L4 brought into circuit at the higher line frequency. As shown, the deflection coils 4 are connected by switch 3 to point 6 for 405-line operation or to point 8 for 625-line operation. The line oscillator frequency is changed by a further switch (not shown) ganged to switch 3. The leakage inductance of the e.h.t. winding L2 is tuned to the third harmonic of the resonant frequency under flyback conditions, the tuning being changed by windings L3, L4, brought into circuit by switch 2 when operating at 625 lines. Transient oscillation is thus minimized. A rectangular-yoke, gapped-core transformer is specified. One of the windings L3, L4 may be omitted. Tappings may be provided on L3, L4 for operation on other line frequencies. A pulse may be obtained from lead 10 to control a flywheel synchronizing circuit. A resistor 11 may be included to maintain constant the e.h.t. Voltage, obtained from rectifier V3, at the different line frequencies.
