998,219. Roll holders. GENERAL FOODS CORPORATION. July 15, 1963, No. 27945/63. Heading A4G. A carton, e.g. for dispensing a roll of sheet material, formed from a sheet of carton stock composed of a plurality of plies of cellulosic fibres and having as part of its structure a free cutting edge at which the plies are exposed, has the free edge stiffened and hardened so that it is adapted for cutting by impregnating the interstices between the fibres with a hardened thermoplastic agent. The agent may contain polyethylene and a hydrocarbon wax and be applied while warm to the edge and one or both opposed faces of the stock adjacent the edge. U.S.A. Specification 1,952,431 is referred to.
