Abstract

[Also in Division B6] In a drawing board of hollow structure and comprising opposed panels wherein at least one panel surface is provided with a drawing surface as described in the parent Specification a reinforcing structure is provided within the hollow structure for preserving the plane character of at least the one panel. The panels may be of metal, synthetic plastic, hardboard or plywood. The reinforcing structure may be of a cellular character, e.g. of honeycomb formation, 4c, Fig. 2, which may be of a stout paper, e.g. Kraft paper, or of thin metal. It may also be a stiff compression resisting foamed or expanded synthetic resin material, such as expanded polystyrene, urea formaldehyde or polyurethane. The surface layer 7a of the board may be separated from the support layer 8a by at least one intermediate layer of a synthetic plastic material 13, such as unplasticized polyvinyl chloride, the surface layer being transparent and the intermediate layer translucent and coloured green for example. The surface layer 7a is made flush with the outer surface of the panel by recessing. An edgestripping 14 in Fig. 1 and 18 in Fig. 2 is adhesively attached under tension around the edges of the board. This stripping may be plastic, or a metal such as aluminium or aluminium alloy.
