Abstract

996,516. Pallets; slings. ALPHA CONTAINERS Ltd. Oct. 4, 1963 [Oct. 10, 1962], No. 38370/62. Heading B8H. A pallet consists of two perpendicular sets of rectangular section tubes, the tubes 2 of one set fitting in holes occupying substantially the whole of the depth of the vertical walls of the tubes 1 of the other set. Preferably, the tubes are made by folding fibre board, and the tubes 1 are fitted with wood blocks or like stiffeners 9. The tubes 2 may have pairs of aligned slots 7 and 7a which, in the assembled pallet, lie within the tubes 1 and allow a sling line to be passed right through each tube 1. In such a construction the stiffeners 9 are staggered as in Fig. 1 so as not to obstruct the passage of sling lines.
