Abstract

996,434. Flail-harvesters. DEERE & CO. May 14, 1964, No. 20130/64. Heading A1F. A flail-harvester or crop-shredder, of the type having a horizontal transverse rotor 24 partially surrounded by a hood 10 on its upper side but open to the crop on its lower side, is provided with one or more material-releasing members 44 disposed on the inner surface 40 of the hood clear of the rotor but exposed to material thrown up by it, the member or members being normally held against the hood in a fixed position, but being movable by means extending externally of the hovel to dislodge adherent material from the inside of the hood. Each member comprises an angle-section bar 44 mounted on spring- encirled rods 46 which extend through the hood and can be depressed to move the bars 44 inwardly. The rotor comprises laterally-curved blades 30 pivoted on lugs on a shaft 26 extending between end-walls 12 of the hood, the whole device being mounted on hitch-links at the rear of a tractor (Fig. 1, not shown).
