995,867. Piezo-electric elements; electromechanical filters. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Feb. 22, 1963 [March 8, 1962], No. 8976/62. Heading H3U. [Also in Division H1] A piezo - electric crystal unit having the configuration shown may function as in a half-lattice Jaumann filter with a band pass of about 30 kc./s., at about 32 Mc/s. The unit consists of a thin quartz crystal vibrating in a thickness sheer mode and carrying, on a part of uniform thickness, two electrode pairs (shaded, top electrode plating; dashed, bottom electrode plating) providing crystal regions capable of vibrating independently of each other, without significant mechanical coupling through the crystal, but the plating for both electrodes on one side of the crystal being extended around the edge of the crystal to provide a common lead-off strip.
