994,399. X-ray apparatus. CHIRANA PRAHA NARODNI PODNIK. June 27, 1963 [July 18, 1962], No. 25678/63. Heading H5R. A cassette slide, e.g. for taking serial X-ray photographs comprises clamping jaws 8, 9 holding a cassette 27 therebetween and a spring 15, wherein the jaws are connected to the straight sections of a flexible tension member 13 which passes over two rollers 11, 12 and one of the jaws is connected to one end of the spring, the other end of the spring being fixed to the frame 1 of the cassette slide, the jaws being thus urged together and the assembly of jaws and cassette being urged towards an edge of the slide under the action of the spring. The rollers 11, 12 are mounted on a displaceable rule 10 which, together with the jaws, slide on rollers in grooves provided in a profiled member 2 attached to the frame. A dashpot cylinder 14 is provided within the spring and has a piston 16 which is attached to the rule 10. The cassette assembly is held in position relative to the frame 1 by a system of pawls 20, 21 which selectively engage a cut-out portion 19 provided on the rule 10, the lower half of the cassette being exposed to the X-rays with pawl 20 engaged as shown, and the upper half exposed by bodily moving the cassette assembly downward so that pawl 21 is engaged.
