Abstract

A curable polyurethane coating composition comprises on the basis of 100% by weight, at least 25% of a blocked isocyanate-terminated polyether-based urethane intermediate wherein said polyether molecules have a weight of 134 to 6000, and a metallic salt catalyst comprising stannous octoate, stannic chloride, butyl tin trichloride, dibutyl tin dilaurate, di(2-ethyhexyl) tin oxide, dibutyl tin dibutoxide, lead naphthenate, bismuth chloride, bismuth octoate, tetra(2-ethylhexyl) titanate or tetrabutyl titanate and 0 to 75% of an inert solvent, and wherein the concentration of said metallic salt catalyst is about 0.1 to 1.0% of the weight of the blocked isocyanate-terminated polyether-based urethane intermediate. Cross-linking agents, e.g. polyether-polyols, hydroxy-terminated polyether polyol-based intermediates, hydroxyterminated amines or hydroxy-terminated tertiary nitrogen-containing polyether-based intermediates may be present in the compositions.
