Abstract

994,328. Pelletizing plastic material. G. KAISER, and H. KAISER, [trading as GEBR. KAISER]. Jan. 1, 1963, No. 123/63. Heading B5A. In the production of pellets of synthetic resin, waxes, &c., from a melt, the molten material is extruded through a plurality of dies 18 in the bottom of a tank 13, and before entering the dies is subjected intermittently to superatmospheric pressure as by passage between intermeshing gear like rolls 14, 15 rotated in the directions of the arrows 19 and 22, alternately, so that the extrusions are restricted at intervals and break away into drops to be collected and solidified on a cooled surface. In alternative apparatus superatmospheric pressure is applied intermittently by a reciprocating ram.
