Abstract

993,865. Brake valves. H. TEVES, E. A. TEVES, and M. TAUSEND, [trading as ALFRED TEVES MASCHINEN-UND ARMATURENFABRIK KOMM. - GES.]. May 4, 1962 [June 29, 1961], No. 17194/62. Heading F2F. A brake valve for dual-circuit brakes, more particularly of motor vehicles, which when operated so controls a pressure medium source that the same supplies one brake circuit directly and acts on a piston of a master cylinder 2 of the other brake circuit comprises a hollow actuating member 7 which is operated by the brake pedal through a push-rod 5 and by which is controlled a pressure supply valve 25, the member 7 co-operating with the pushrod to form a valve for controlling the return of the pressure medium through the member 7 to an outlet 9 to a reservoir 13. On movement of the push-rod 5 to the left the connection to the outlet 9 is interrupted when the valve 22, 23 closes and the valve rod 19 straightens to lift the spring-loaded valve 16 off its seat. Pressure medium flows from an accumulator into valve passage 12 and thence through chamber 21 and connection 11 to the wheel brake cylinders of one circuit and through passage 13 to the back of master cylinder piston 14 to shift the same to operate the brakes of the second circuit. Failurein the power assistance provided by the accumulator results in the actuating member 7 engaging the piston 14 to actuate the brakes of the second circuit.
