Abstract

993,393. Encapsulating electrical components. LICENTIA PATENT-VERWALTUNGS-G.m.b.H. Feb. 24, 1964, No. 7559/64. Heading B5A. An electrical component, such as a coil, is encapsulated by pouring synthetic resin into a mould placed under vacuum into which a chlorinated hydrocarbon, chemically compatible with the resin, is sprayed to provide a protective gas atmosphere. To ensure that air originally present in the mould is completely displaced the mould may be subjected to repeated evacuations together with fresh supplies of chlorinated hydrocarbon. The resin may be an epoxy, phenol-aldehyde or urea-aldehyde resin and suitable hydrocarbons are chlorobenzene, chlorobutane, dichloroethylene and chloro-methyl-butane.
