992,534. Railway vehicle undercarriages. AMSTED INDUSTRIES Inc. Oct. 14, 1963, No. 40403/63. Heading B7L. In a railway bogie, a side frame member 10, Figs. 1, 2 and 3, has spaced vertical columns 22 defining a bolster opening 24 therebetween, resilient means, e.g. springs 28, seated on the member 10 within the opening, a bolster member 12 having an end 26 supported on the means 28 within the opening, lug means 46, 48 projecting from opposite sides of the member 12 in a direction normalto its longitudinal axis and disposed on opposite sides of the columns 22 to limit longitudinal movement of the bolster relative to the side frame, snubbing means, e.g. friction shoes 34 and springs 36, of known construction, carried by one of the members, e.g. 12, for engagement with the other member, e.g. 10, and reacting between the members to dampen vertical oscillation of the means 28, and stop means 58 projecting from the columns 22 in a direction parallel to the longitudinal axis of the bolster, the stop means 58 being engageable with a lug 46 to limit rotational movement of the bolster about its longitudinal centre line and within the side from opening 24, to an angle less than 3 degrees.
