In an autographic till of the type wherein a detail strip is progressively advanced by drive means from a supply roll to a take-up roll means are provided whereby the drive means can be disconnected and the detail strip on the take-up rewound on to the supply spool and subsequently returned to the take-up spooL In the Figure a detail strip 20 is moved from a spool 21 to a spool 26 over a plate 25 and past an opening 37 in the casing of the till by the action on a ratchet wheel 40 of a pawl 41 moved through a link 43 by depressing a drawer opening key 50 reverse rotation of the ratchet wheel being prevented by a pawl 56. When it is desired to rewind the detail strip back on to the supply spool, pawls 41 and 56 are moved to an inoperative position by movement of a bar 62, the detail strip being then rewound into the supply spool by rotating a knurled wheel 33 and finally returned to the take-up spool by rotating a knurled wheel 34. The bar 62 has portions 67 and 69 which contact projections on the pawls 41 and 56 when the bar is moved laterally to take the pawls out of engagement with the ratchet wheel 40, movement of the bar 62 being effected by rotation of a cam 60 on a key-operated rotary latch member 17 acting on the upturned end 61 of the bar. The till has a hinged cover 11 normally held in a closed position by the latch member 17. In a modification the cam for actuating the bar 62 may be separate from the latch member 17. In a further modification the rewinding of the detail strip may be effected by a clockwork or electric motor automatically set in operation upon turning the latch member 17.
