In a condenser comprising a housing 1 containing a pipe-coil 3 for cooling-water, which is introduced through connection 4 and flows out through connection 5, the vapour-to-becondensed is introduced into the housing through pipe 8, and the condensate flows out of the housing through siphon 9 which rises to such a level that part of the cooling-coil 3 is immersed in the condensate, which is thereby after-cooled. The coil 3, which is detachable from the housing, is provided with ribs 6. The condensation of the vapours of chlorinated hydrocarbon solvents is referred to. The surface of the pipe-coil and the inner surface of the housing may be provided with a corrosionprotective coating.
