Abstract
The invention comprises desacetylamino-N-methyl-colchicenamide of formula <FORM:0991153/C2/1> and its preparation by reaction of desacetylamino-colchicine with methylamine. Desacetylamino - colchicine and desacetylaminoisocolchicine are obtained by reacting desacetylamino-colchicene with diazomethane and separating the products by chromatography. The compound of the invention has anti-mitotic properties and may be used in combination with a pharmaceutical carrier in forms suitable for oral, topical or parental administration, for example in powders, tablets, ointments, or injectable solutions or suspensions in ampoules.
