Abstract

990,962. Fluid-pressure servomotor systems. PLESSEY CO. Ltd. July 14,1961 [April 14, 1960], No. 13495/60. Heading G3P. [Also in Division B7] An actuation system comprises two air motors 1, 2 receive air from a common inlet 3 via a torque limiter 4 and a rotary control valve 6. Motor 1 drives the outer sun wheel 18 and motor 2 the inner sun wheel 22 of the differential gearing 15 which mesh with planet wheels 23 carried on a carrier 24 connected with output shaft 25, which drives, through gearing and sheer neck torque limiter 30, a shaft 32 which in turn drives shafts 35, 36 connected respectively to a pair of devices to be actuated. Shaft 25 also drives by means of gears 38, 39 and pinions 40, 41, the sun wheel 43 of the epicyclic 42. The annulus 44 rotates a lever 45, and the planet wheel carrier 46 rotates a lever 48 connected by a link 52 and lever 51 to the pilot's control unit 49; lever 45 is connected by link 54 to the control lever 53 of valve 6. When the control unit 49 is adjusted, levers 45, 48 are moved through a predetermined angle and valve 6 is moved into the valve open position, thus operating motors 1, 2. At the same time, levers 45, 48 will be rotated by the epicyclic gearing in the reverse direction to which they were moved by the control 49, and by the feed-back arrangement, will progressively close-off the valve 6. Specification 958,655 is referred to.
