[Also in Division B5] An apparatus for shaping gas-filled tubular sausage casings 2, for example to produce spirally coiled casings for annular sausages, includes a reel 4 and a pair of conical rollers 1a, 1b, presenting a nip for receiving the shaped casing after its passage over the reel, and the rollers are arranged with their narrower ends adjacent the surface of the reel and with their rotational axes substantially disposed in a plane passing through the rotational axis of the reel and, preferably, converging towards a point disposed on the rotational axis. The line of nip 6 should correspond to the angle of pitch # of the coiled tubular casing. The taper of the conical rollers may be between 10 degrees and 20 degrees. The distance between the rollers may be varied.
