989,731. Interference suppression; pulse radar. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Sept. 7, 1961 [July 1, 1960], No. 23152/60. Headings H4D and H4L. In a system for the reduction of interference in received pulse signals in a radar system, I.F. signals from the radar receiver are supplied via a logarithmic amplifier 1, which reduces the effect of noise signals in known manner, to a tapped delay line 2, terminated by its characteristic impedance 3, each section producing a delay equal to the pulse width. If the signals contain both information and noise of varying power level the mean level of the output signal from the amplifier will fluctuate with the power level of the interference and to reduce such fluctuations the centre tapping 6 of the delay is fed to one input of a differential amplifier 11 and the remaining tappings are fed via an OR gate 9 to the other input. The OR gate 9 will pass only the greatest of the four signals from the delay line 2, and the resulting difference signal from 11 is supplied via an amplifier 18, which restores the linearity removed by the amplifier 1, to the utilization circuit.
