Abstract

989, 067. Automatic control of speed. ELEKTRO-MECHANIK G.m.b.H. Aug. 4, 1961 [Aug. 4, 1960], No. 28406/61. Heading G3R. [Also in Division H2] Relates to a follow-up control system for determining the speed of a driving motor of a rail vehicle, the power input to the driving motor being controlled by a pilot motor 26. When relay 16 for the first traction stage is energized by adjustment of controller 21, voltage dividers 10, 11, are connected to polarized relays 24, 25, and relay 24 responds to actuate contactor 27. The pilot motor 26 is then switched-on to increase the speed of the vehicle, and adjusts voltage divider 30 until the relay 24 is released. Further acceleration is afforded by adjusting the controller 21 to energize relays 17-20 in sequence. The switching-on of the pilot motor 26 in the direction for downward regulation of speed is effected in a similar manner through voltage divider 11 and polarized relay 25. In another arrangement, relays 31-35 are operated in succession to increase the speed of the drive motor, and are successively de-energized to reduce the speed. Resistors 37-41 serve for the acceleration operation, whilst resistors 42-46 are effective during the deceleration period. Thus, in the first traction stage, relay 31 responds to complete a circuit for relay 48 through resistor 37 and voltage divider 52. The pilot motor 47 increases the speed of the vehicle and adjusts the divider 52 until relay 48 is released. In a further embodiment the actual speed detector is a tachometer generator coupled to the main driving motor, Fig. 3 (not shown). The main driving motor may be electric or non-electric.
