In a current regulating circuit having input terminals 5, 6 and output terminals 7,8, a currentdependent voltage is derived from transductors 13,14,oscillator 17,rectifier 18 and resistor 19 and is applied to a capacitor 26 connected to the base of a transistor 21;when the voltage across the capacitor 26 exceeds a reference voltage, determined by a Zener diode 22 connected to the emitter of transistor 21,the transistor conducts so that a control switch 10, connected between terminals 5 and 7, is rendered non-conductive,whereby the current in the circuit is maintained constant. To minimise the possibility of high currents when the circuit is initially switched on, a timedelay switch 9 ensures that no load current flows until a predetermined period has elapsed, during which time the capacitor 26 charges up to the reference voltage by way of a resistor 24 and a diode 25, whereby the circuit is ready to operate immediately switch 9 closes. Voltage regulation may be effected by connecting the capacitor 26 to the terminal 7 by way of a diode 27, so that the capacitor is charged to the output voltage or to the voltage across resistor 19,whichever is the higher.
