987,463. Forepoling bars. K. M. GROETSCHEL. June 26, 1962 [June 26, 1961], No. 24551/62. Heading E1E. A cantilever extension or forepoling bar a, Fig. 1, for an advancing mine roof support frame is provided with a roof engaging plate b pivotally mounted thereon for relative universal movement. The bar a is provided with sockets c to selectively receive the pin d of the plate b, locking means in the form of a split pin, washer or nut being provided, if so buried, see also Figs 2, 3 and 4 (not shown). The box plate may be provided with an apertured lug h: (Fig. 5) which is secured to an apertured bar a<SP>11</SP> by a pivot pin i. The plate may carry subsidiary roof engaging elements b<SP>111</SP>, Fig. 7, attached thereto for immersal pivotal movement as set out above, see also Fig. 8 (not shown).
