987,325. Reinforced concrete. ALPENLANDISCHE VEREDEHINGS-INDUSTRIE G.m.b.H. April 8, 1963 [April 6, 1962], No. 13972/63. Heading E1V [Also in Divisions B3 and D1] A method of producing reinforcing elements for concrete comprises the steps of welding cross-members at intervals to longitudinal rods which are spaced parallel either singly or in groups, cutting through the crossmembers between each two or more longitudinal rods and bending the projecting ends around the rod or groups of longitudinal rods The longitudinal rods 1 are unwound on the form of cold wire from reels 3 and pass through a cold-finishing machine 4 and a straightener 5 to a lattice welding machine 6 in which the cross-members 2<SP>1</SP> are introduced. In the machine 6 they are welded by electric resistance welding to the longitudinal rods to form a lattice 7. After welding, a plurality of Gassel shears 8 cut through the cross members 2 and subsequently the projecting ends of the cross members are bent around the longitudinal rods by a bending machine 9. The resulting strip like reinforcing elements may be wound on to reelers 10 into coils or may be cut into given lengths.
