987,315. Reverberation systems; stereophonic systems. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. Feb. 1, 1963 [Feb. 6, 1962], No. 4231/63. Heading H4R. A circuit arrangement for amplifying audiofrequency signals, including a modified signal derived therefrom, comprises an amplifier 1 in the channel for the non-modified signals and a signal modification device 7 having its output 9 connected to the input of the amplifier 1 and its input 6 connected to the output of the channel for the non-modified signals and also to an additional circuit (including a resistor 15) arranged to feed the modified signal substantially in phase opposition to the modified signal received from the output of the channel for the non-modified signals. A 180 degrees phase shift takes place in resistor 16 and potentiometer 5 is adjusted so that the modified signal fed back over the path 16, 1, 14 neutralizes that fed back through resistor 15. In a stereophonic system, Fig. 2 (not shown), a common signal modification device 7 serves both channels, so that the same reverberation signal appears in both outputs.
