A lantern light for fitting over an opening in a roof comprises a walled support 2 which may be thin walled translucent material or metal and a cupola 3 e.g. of acrylic resin secured to the support 2 by means of a resilient porous floating support packing ring 1 of polyurethane impregnated with bitumens, or of non-rotting felt, glued to the support 2 on one face and to the cupola 3 on the other face so that condensed water collecting in the space between the support and cupola from the interior surface of this latter drains away through the packing ring 1. The cupola may engage frictionally with a support to ease the weight there of on the floating support 1. Additional cupolas 6 may be superimposed on the basic one 3 and secured together by floating supports such as 1. The support 2 has a flange secured by glue to the fluid tight covering on the roof and a covering flap over the flange reinforces the seal.
