Abstract

Anionic detergents are removed from waste waters by precipitation with alkaline-earth metal compounds which are used in concentration of greater than 500 ppm.ALSO:Alkyl, aryl and alkylaryl sulphates and sulphonates are recovered from waste waters by precipitation with a dispersed or dissolved alkaline-earth metal compound at a concentration greater than 500 p.p.m. The precipitate is treated with an acid; the salt is removed as a precipitate or by precipitation as a carbonate, e.g. by reacting with sodium carbonate, and the solution of the detergent recovered by filtration.
