986,572. Geophysical surveying. GEOFIZIKAI MEROMUSZEREK GYARA, and ORSZAGOS KOOLAJ-ES GAZIPARI TROSZT. July 4,1961 [July 14, 1960], No. 24115/61. Heading G1N. A probe, in apparatus for the electrical measurement of the resistivity of rocks, comprises a main field forming current supply electrode A<SP>1</SP> 1 and, arranged symmetrically thereabout, (i) a short-circuited pair of control current supply electrodes A 1 , A<SP>1</SP> 1 , (ii) first and second short-circuited pairs S 1 , S<SP>1</SP> 1 and S 2 S<SP>1</SP> 2 of measuring electrodes, between the electrodes A 1 , A<SP>1</SP> 1 , and (iii) at least one auxiliary short-circuited pair A 0 <SP>1</SP>, A 0 <SP>11</SP> of field forming current supply electrodes between the electrodes S 1 , S<SP>1</SP> 1 . In the embodiment of Fig. 1, further additional pairs A<SP>2</SP> 0 , A 0 <SP>21</SP> and A 2 A<SP>1</SP> 2 of field forming current and control current supply electrodes are provided, similarly symmetrically disposed. In Fig. 2, short circuited pairs B 0 , B 0 <SP>1</SP> and B 1 , B<SP>1</SP> 1 of field forming current and control current return electrode replace the electrodes A 2 , A<SP>1</SP> 2 of Fig. 1. A generator for supplying current to the control electrodes may include phase reversal means.
