Abstract
The invention comprises N-g 1-aminopropyl-a -amino acids of the formula <FORM:0986480/C2/1> salts, esters and N-acylderivatives thereof, wherein <FORM:0986480/C2/2> represents a radical derived by loss of an amino hydrogen atom from an a -amino acid. Specified amino acids are glycine, alamine, valine, leucine, threonine, methionine, phenylalanine and tyrosine. Salts are preferably sodium salts and hydrochlorides; esters are preferably ethyl esters; and N-acyl derivatives are exemplified by N,N1 - diacetyl - N - g 1 - aminopropylglycine ethyl ester. The above compounds are prepared by reduction of the corresponding a -N-cyanoethylamino acids of the formula <FORM:0986480/C2/3> or their salts, esters or N-acyl derivatives. The above compounds may be homopolymerized or copolymerized with e -caprolactam.ALSO:N - g 1 - Aminopropyl - a - amino acids of the formula:-<FORM:0986480/C3/1> and salts, esters and N-acyl derivatives thereof, wherein <FORM:0986480/C3/2> represents a radical derived by loss of an amino hydrogen atom from an a -amino acid, such as glycine, alanine, phenylalanine, valine, leucine, threonine and tyrosine, may be homopolymerized or copolymerized with e -caprolactam to give polymers which may be formed into films, fibres, filaments and threads.
