Abstract

An appliance for insertion into the uterua comprises a resilient strand or strip having s free shape as a coil in substantially one plane. The device is made from synthetic resin, such as polyethylene or polypropylene, or from metal, so as to be readily deformable to a straight line whereby it can be introduced through a cannula and will immediately return to its coiled shape. It is preferred that it should have a simple spiral form but sinuous or other forms may be used, and it may incorporate barium sulphate to facilitate observation under X-rays.
