Abstract

984,645. Upholstery. EVERTAUT Ltd. Feb. 18, 1964 [March 19, 1963], No. 10708/63. Heading A4M. An upholstered seat or the like comprises a rigid frame 1 with a boundary flange 2 and a bulging 3 adjacent thereto, both extending in a direction away from an upholstery filling 4 applied to the frame, and a flexible cover 5 whose edge portion is turned back over the flange 2 and bulging 3 and is clamped by means of one or more clamping plates 6 shaped to fit over the bulging 3 and being removably secured to the frame 1. The plates 6 are secured to the frame by either bolts 8 or resilient leaded grommets 9, Fig. 4, which are pushed through openings in the frame 1 so as to carry portions 5<SP>11</SP> of the cover 5 with them. The bulging 3 may comprise a continuous rib of curved section exteding round the frame 1 or several separate aligned ribs. The upholstery filling 4 may be a textile or fibrous stuffing, rubber or other resilient padding or metallic springs.
