Abstract

A method of detachably securing an insole to the bottom portion of a last comprises applying double-faced pressure sensitive adhesive material having opposed adhesive faces to the insole or last merely by pressure, aligning the insole and last with the opposed adhesive faces of said pressure sensitive material disposed therebetween and pressing to form an assembled unit affixed in aligned relation merely by said adhesive faces. The elements can thereafter be separated by applying a longitudinal separating force which releases the bond, and the material is then stripped from either of the elements. The adhesive material is preferably in the form of a tape, the dimensions of which are determined by the peel adhesion value of the tape and an empirical value depending on the condition of the tape, insole and last. The tape may be applied either to the bottom of the last or directly to the inner surface of the insole. The strip may be provided to protect the adhesive qualities of the tape until it is required for use.
