Abstract

The invention comprises 2,4-diamino-6-hydroxymethyl - 7,8 - dihydropteridine and its preparation by partial reduction of 2,4-diamino-6-hydroxymethylpteridine by catalytic hydrogenation or by means of nascent hydrogen. Pharmaceutical preparations for the treatment of leukaemia and infections by pathogenic microorganisms, comprise the above compound in association with a carrier, suitably in such forms as tablets, capsules, cachets, ampoules, suppositories, granules, ointments, solutions and suspensions, including sterile preparations for parenteral use.
