Abstract

Undecylenic acid derivatives of the general formula <FORM:0981416/C2/1> in which R represents an hydrogen atom, an alkyl (1-4 C) group or a partial ether chain [(CH2)2O]xH in which x is an integer of 1-30, n is 1-4, and y is 0 or 1-30, and provided that (n + y) is at least 2 are used as the fungicidal or bacteriocidal ingredient with a non-toxic, non-irritant vehicle in a pharmaceutical and/or cosmetic composition. Undecylenic mono-isopropanolamide and diethanolamide; the condensation products of undecylenic mono-ethanolamide and up to 4 mols. of ethylene oxide, and of undecylenic mono-isopropanolamide and up to 4 mols. of ethylene oxide are specified. Complexes of the alkylol-amides with excess alkylolamines are also mentioned.
