Abstract
981,023. Bearings; circlips. CROSS MANUFACTURING CO. (1938) Ltd. Jan. 10, 1964 [April 11, 1963], No. 14550/63. Headings F2A and F2H. That face of a circlip 1 which engages in a groove 7 is semi-circular in section and the opposite face 8 is straight in section and frustoconical. The circlip 1 is compressed by a complementarily-shaped mouth 10a of the hole in a washer 3 or of the hole in a machine part 4 if no washer is used, Fig. 2 (not shown). If the circlip is one to be used in an interior groove, Fig. 4 (not shown), the groove-engaging exterior face is curved in section and the interior face is frusto-conical to receive the complementarilyshaped periphery of a washer or extremity of a machine part. The circlip 1 holds the coacting member by friction from moving off or out of the circlip. Bearings.-The interengaging faces 11 of the washer 3 and machine part 4 may be coated with white metal or lead bronze.
