980,741. Nuclear fuel elements. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. May 26,1961 [May 27,1960; Sept. 16, 1960], Nos. 18813/60 and 31927/60. Heading G6C. A finned nuclear fuel element is provided with an unbalanced or asymmetrical arrangement of splitters so that coolant flowing over the element exerts a lateral force on it. The drawing shows four splitters of L-section, some of the flanges being clockwise and some anti-clockwise. Alternatively the splitters may have differing cross-section, e.g. T- section some and rectangular for other, or may differ in size or spacing or attitude. Specification 980,742 is referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 847,214.
