Abstract

A lock-up clutch of a hydrodynamic torque converter in series with an automatic gearbox has its engagement force, and thus its slip, controlled by a computer such that the torque M kupplung transferred by the clutch satisfies the following equation: M kupplung = k e . K korr . M Antriebsaggregat with k e as the torque division factor, K korr as a correction factor and M Antriebsaggregat representing the input torque supplied by an engine. The torque division factor is held constant through adjustment of the slip.
