Abstract

980,127. Determining rate of flow and concentration of hydraulic mixtures. NAVIKA, NARODNI PODNIK. March 5, 1963 [March 27, 1962], No. 8650/63. Heading G1N. In an arrangement for measuring both the rate of flow and the concentration of a solid substance in a hydraulic mixture flowing through a pipe line, the velocity of the mixture at an upper part and a lower part of a cross-sectional plane are measured and combined, the sum indicating the average velocity through the cross-section and the difference indicating the concentration. The velocities are measured at Uh and Ud by electrodes 1-4 of an induction flow meter and are applied through circuits 7 which eliminate spurious signals and amplifiers 8 to adding and subtracting circuits 9, 10 feeding indicators 11, 12 which indicate the average rate of flow and the conveying concentration respectively. The product of the sum and difference signals is displayed by an indicator 15 and an integrating arrangement 13 gives average values over a time T. The signal Ud and the difference signal are also applied to an integrating counter 14 to indicate for example in cubic metres the quantity of solid phase transported. A mathematical analysis is included.
